Prayer of the Church

Yes, the Rosary is the Holy Devotion of the Church, and according to the New Catechism, the
Liturgy of the Hours, (Morning, Evening, and Night Prayer of the Church) is the Prayer of the
Church. We promote the gold-leafed ‘Shorter Christian Prayer’ Book; and we encourage
families to start with Night Prayer with the Psalms, which only takes about 5 minutes. We also
encourage families to start ‘Lighthouse Media Club’. It’s easy—get a few of your favorite
Lighthouse Media CD’s and share them with your Rosary and Prayers groups, and families.
We are called to be Disciples of Christ, and so, Disciples need a discipline. What greater
discipline can we have than attending Holy Mass, praying the Devotion of the Church– our Holy
Rosary, and praying the Psalms and Scriptures of the Liturgy of the Hours. These devotions
connect us to the ancient Temple in Jerusalem, which at the time of Jesus, and earlier, was
where the ancient Jewish people prayed the Psalms and Scriptures morning, afternoon, and
evening. As the ancient Rabbis taught, the greatest thing we can do is to ‘Praise God morning,
afternoon and evening’, so our Holy Catholic Church has continued to do this since the earliest
days of our faith. With Jesus Christ as our New Temple, we continue our praise, worship and
thanksgiving to our Lord!

Fr Kneemiller regularly gives short talks on the Rosary and Night Prayer to KC groups and Ladies Auxiliary Groups in Iowa, and on Zoom Conference Calls. Invite Fr Kneemiller, kneemillerw@diodav.org, to visit your group, with a month or two advance planning.
